My Life in Words

Words of the year

Every year I choose two words that I pray will mark those twelve months. I don’t do much to lean into them; what I do is live my year and then reflect on how God might have been marking those words into my life over time. It doesn’t usually turn out how I expect, which is why I am going back and writing a blog for each word I’ve had since 2011. These are written in order of the year I received them, but each blog does not necessarily correspond to the year it represents. Mostly, I am using these blogs to sort out what these words mean to me now, and how each of them has changed in meaning over time. I am writing these blogs for myself, as an act of worship and prayer, but I hope they speak to you, as well.

I’m Laura

I live in Columbus, Ohio and my goal in life is to cultivate joy. Right now, that looks like finding housing for newly arrived refugees, writing pieces that (hopefully) re-ignite our deep desire for growth and meaning, and spending my spare time having as much fun as possible. This is where I post things that I write, so go ahead and take a look around!
